Local-only · macOS · your bytes never leave the machine

Redaction you can prove.

Most tools draw a black box and leave your data sitting underneath it. Omitly actually removes it — and gives you a verifiable audit trail that proves the data is gone.

macOS today · Windows edition coming soon

A black box is not redaction.

Courts, hospitals and newsrooms have all leaked sensitive data the same way: a rectangle drawn over text that anyone can select, copy, or delete to reveal what's underneath. The data was never removed — just covered.

Omitly treats that as unacceptable. Redacted content is deleted from the file's structure and then verified gone.

// other tools

draw_rectangle(over: secret) // secret still in file ✗

// omitly

remove(secret); verify(gone) // ✓ audited

Remove. Verify. Prove.

Three steps, every time — the third is the one nobody else does.

01

Select

Draw over anything — names, account numbers, faces, whole paragraphs. Works on text and images alike.

02

Remove

Omitly rewrites the PDF's content streams to delete the underlying text and image data — not paint a box over it. Metadata is scrubbed too.

03

Prove

An independent pass re-scans the output and confirms nothing renders — or survives in the bytes — inside any redacted region. You get a signed audit log.

Built for people who can't afford to get it wrong.

Provable, not cosmetic

The classic failure — a black rectangle you can copy-paste out from under — is impossible here. The data is gone from the file.

An audit trail that holds up

Every redaction is logged with page, region, timestamp, reason and a pass/fail verdict. Defensible when it matters.

Local-only by design

Document bytes never leave your machine. No content telemetry. No cloud round-trip. Air-gap friendly.

A full PDF editor too

Annotate, fill forms, reorder and merge pages. Redaction is the headline, not the whole story.

Free · on-device · nothing uploaded

Use Omitly from Claude

Add one free MCP server and ask Claude "did I actually redact this?" It checks the PDF on your machine and flags any SSNs, emails or account numbers still sitting under the black boxes — masked, and without uploading a thing. Or check it right in your browser with the free leak checker.
